JBL Brand space for Quantum Gaming

Location: Saturn in Cologne, Germany

For years JBL has been known for its audio products, with the emphasis being on bringing people together, to create an experience-driven community that shares an appreciation for good vibes, music and sound quality. The audio manufacturer also tapped into another community, realising that gamers need a headset as a real essential for the best immersive experience together with their fellow online multi-player friends. This is why this summer JBL has kicked off their new Quantum product range, focusing on the gaming audience with a stylish line-up of various gaming headsets.

Sound is survival. Superior audio can make or break your and your clan's score, as sound sharpens your senses and responsiveness. The JBL Quantum range aims to bring every game to the most immersive experience by sound and light effects. We as Tchai aim to deliver that experience even in the stores already. After having the responsibility for the design, production and (international) installation on the shop floors for JBL audio products for some time, we were excited to take on this new challenge. And to immerse this very critical audience of gamers into the cinematic quality of the product… even before purchase.

To promote JBL bringing out their new product category, we designed, created and fitted a brand activation space within the store of electronics giant, Saturn (Cologne, Germany). The shop-in-shop space features our custom made JBL Quantum product displays, filled with the brand’s latest gaming headsets for customers to test and try, along with actual game spots so that people can experience, connect and come together. The JBL Quantum brand space has been located in a unique place within the Saturn megastore that was crying out for a smart décor: right under the escalators. While many of the store’s customers pass by this brand space, it is a dark and underrated position. It challenged us to make use of the limited square meters, but we have achieved a limitless impact with it.

We used this dark area as an advantage to enhance the gaming atmosphere. Using a neon-looking LED strip under the escalator, creates a futuristic signature that also highlights the gigantic dragon, that emblazons the vinyl floor.
